Wasn't Rucker about 260 when he was a rookie?

Agreed. The first thing i thought of was Freeney after they showed the highlights. This dude just flies off the snap and has a killer spin move that just screams "Freeney". Then when you recall that Meeks is the new DC and it just fits perfectly into place (Martin too).

This guy is a ball player, flies around the field and has excellant character and a team leader (even if he does sound a bit slow). Anyone that has doubts about this pick, think of Beason two years ago when we drafted him.

I did kinda lose it when i heard we gave up a 1. But that was because i thought we also gave up our #2 also, but we didnt. If you look at it as giving up a top 10 pick next year (and reguardless of schedule this is still a good team) for a 43 now, yeah, that kinda sounds bad. But look at the player we got instead. He was very highly rated (my 2 draft guides both had him rated as a top 5 player and both listed him as the #1 overall DE) and i was shocked to see him tumble so far, especially considering his pass rush abilities. Maybe he suffered more from the FSU DE jinx more than anything. But with Meeks now here its obvious to see how he fits in.

Plus, he's a home town kid with a chip on his shoulder now that so many teams passed on him.

    Everette Brown - 6'2" 256

    Dwight Freeney - 6'1" 268

    Robert Mathis - 6'2" 245

On paper, seems like a logical conclusion either way. Brown's weight is basically an average of the two with the same deviation.

Although, after looking at the picture below, I'm not sure that those numbers are correct:

    Brown really isn't, either.
and he doesn't really deserve being compared to a 7th round rush specialist (either of them). TSN compares him to Demarcus Ware (but does also state he can play down in a 4-3).

well, when Freeney came out he wasn't anywhere near 270. When he was drafted, I believe he was lighter than 256.

Everybody calm down. This guy could kick Superman's ass. According to Charles Chandler Staff Writer in the Sunday, April 26, 2009 edition of The News & Observer...

"Brown, who led the ACC last year with 136 1/2 sacks and 216 1/2 tackles for loss, likely will have a chance to start at the defensive end position opposite Julius Peppers."

136 1/2 sacks and 216 1/2 tackles for loss in one season!!! We're winning the superbowl!

You guys notice how when ESPN showed him he was sitting by himself. No family. No agent. Then at his press conference he was sitting up there by himself. Little video on Panthers.com he's walking around the stadium by himself. Not saying anything is wrong with that. Just thought it was interesting.

Did you guys also see Lesean McCoys entourage. Interesting looking crew.
