It's clear from that interview that I won't be allowed to just root a team without having Eric Reid shoved in my face, complaining about how oppressed he is right after the Panthers absurdly made him the 10th highest paid safety in football. Going from Thomas Davis to this crap is too nasty of a pill for me to swallow. I'd rather go be Andrew Luck's bitch for 10 years.

This once football-first organization has become quite possibly the NFL’s most openly political (with a palpable left slant) operation. It’s not just the Reid thing. Their social media footprint is designed almost exclusively for millennial African Americans and whites who seek black acceptance. (I’ve looked at every other team’s websites and twitters to compare—Carolina takes the cake in terms of social engineering)

I am all for players standing up for their beliefs, but they continue to feed the fanbase political and social messaging from a fucking firehose. There’s no balance, and that’s upsetting. Hell, even their production elements for highlight videos are hack as fuck. Cheap-ass Migos knock-off tracks under film-quality captures. Fucking stop it.

The owner is driving it, and in doing so, he’s banking on solidifying a global reach while alienating fans who, quite frankly, can’t stomach the liberal overtones. It’s basically a big fuck you to the PSL base that helped build this thing. How often do you hear or see anything related to Sam Mills? I guarantee you he’s going to change the motto of the team at some point—they already workshopped this on Twitter last fall with some stupid fan poll.

Eric Reid was never considered anything more than an average, concussion-prone safety before gaining attention for kneeling. Tepper’s ego has gotten in the way, and has impacted football decisions.

As for the interview, I’ve said it before—I like Bill Voth. He works for the team, and I think it’s fair to say it’s not his place (nor perhaps his desire) to aggressively challenge much of anything. The fact is, it was never going to be good enough just to give Reid a job in the NFL again. He was always going to demand certain liberties to express himself, along with a fat contract. Carolina was the only team willing to bend over backwards to do that, even if it meant offending first responders and folks in the military. And now you’re tethered to that, because the minute you bench this guy due to performance, he’ll run his mouth to the media. And the media, of course, will eat it right from his hand

 

Eric Reid being here for a while just made the Panther's thranas's favorite team.

 

I quite literally avoid the team on social media and I barely visit their website. And I’m far from a hardcore conservative.
