I tried hard to like Bright Eyes, but I just cant. Same reason I absolutely hate Dashboard Confessional. Cheesy, syrupy, insipid lyrics written for 13 yr old girls. That's my impression of this whole "emo" movement. A whole BUNCH of folks trying damn hard to sound like my faves (Elliott Smith & Jeff Buckley), but failing miserably.

Someone called Elliott "emo" and I almost vomited... after I decided not to punch him, that is.

I also heard Flaming Lips called Emo, which I have a harder time arguing against. That last album of theirs (Yosh v Pink Robots) had some of the best arrangements in years, but the lyrics are borderline cheesy.

I'll still listen to "do you realize" though.

I understand what you mean about the lyrics, but that's also why a lot of people love the music. There is actually a "meaning" to the lyrics instead of just same- ol generic crap that is written for the radio. The meaning might be for 13 yr old girls as you say, but at least it's there. Give me Dashboard Confessional or Bright Eyes or Weezer, etc over the Limp Bizkits or Blink 182s of the world any day.

Now Jeff Buckley is great. Absolutely.

After that statement, I think you have carte blanche to make any other proclamations & I'll believe them 100%. :D

Further Seems Forever IS Dashboard Confessional. It's just Chris' heavier sounding project. Decent sounding songs til he opens his mouth.

If he put a lot of thought into "your hair is everywhere", then I'd hate to hear a stray thought from him. At least it rhymes.

    Mojo Pin (J. Buckley/G. Lucas)

i'm lying in my bed, the blanket is warm
this body will never be safe from harm
still feel your hair, black ribbons of coal
touch my skin to keep me whole

if only you'd come back to me
if you laid at my side
    wouldn't need no mojo pin
    to keep me satisfied

don't wanna weep for you, don't wanna know
i'm blind and tortured, the white horses flow
the memories fire, the rhythms fall slow
black beauty i love you so

    precious, precious silver and gold
    and pearls in oyster's flesh
drop down we two to serve and pray to love
born again from the rhythm screaming down from heaven
ageless, ageless and i'm there in your arms

don't wanna weep for you, don't wanna know
i'm blind and tortured, the white horses flow
the memories fire, the rhythms fall slow
black beauty i love you so

the welts of your scorn, my love, give me more
send whips of opinion down my back, give me more
well it's you i've waited my life to see
it's you i've searched so hard for

don't wanna weep for you, i don't wanna know
i'm blind and tortured, the white horses flow
the memories fire, the rhythms fall slow
black beauty i love you so

Chris hasn't been in Further since he left to form Dashboard. Jason Gleason has been the singer ever since. Fwiw, I don't think Chris is on either of Further's full length albums.

She must need some "great" musical act like Manson to appeal to her taste then. Maybe if Dashboard engaged in violence or sex acts on stage, then that would make them a great band! Cause, it's not the music that makes a band great......it's how much of a freakshow that they portray that's what counts.......oh, wait.
