    As for finding a big shooting guard, the Bulls have signed undrafted free agent Eddie Basden, who averaged 15.3 points, 8.5 rebounds and 3.3 steals at Charlotte last year.

    "I'm a defensive-minded player, and I'll do whatever it takes to win,'' Basden said. "They said they wanted a bigger shooting guard that can fill that position, and that's kind of been my niche.''

    Careful. I'm not sure he said Eddie wouldn't get signed, but he did say Eddie wouldn't be drafted.

    It's summer league, but Eddie's holding his own, leading the Bulls in scoring. They are 2-1 with Basden scoring 13, 17 and 18.

    3 games so far: 87 minutes, 29 minutes per game; 16 of 35 field goals, .457; 2 of 7 3-point field goals, .286; 14 of 19 free throws, .737; 48 points, 16.0 points per game; 8 offensive, 7 defensive, 15 total rebounds, 5.0 rebounds per game; 3 assists, 1.0 assists per game; 5 steals, 1.7 steals per game; 1 block, 0.3 blocks per game; 5 turnovers, 1.7 turnovers per game; 5 fouls, 1.7 fouls per game.
