    AP-FBC-ECarolina-Thompson URGENT

    ECU football coach to resign post

    GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) - East Carolina football coach John
    Thompson plans to step down at the end of the season. That's
    according to a school source.
    Thompson is three-and-18 in two seasons.
    The source told The Associated Press that Thompson will coach in
    the Pirates' final two game this season.
    Thompson is scheduled to announce his resignation at a 3 p.m.
    news conference.
