SCI-FI's got a miniseries coming up next week (12/13-14), but I shamefully admit I've never heard of the stories or the writer. Who's read the books?

I saw an ad in Entertainment Weekly. First I've heard of it.

I'm guessing that it's based on Ursula K. LeGuin.

I read one of those is college. Think the spin was that it was some kind of fantasy version of life challenges or some such metaphorical voyage.

I drank a lot of beer back then.

Sci-Fi miniseries (outside of Battlestar Galactica) generally look good in theory, but suck ass in reality. Even BG could have been a lot better.

I was prepared to hate Battlestar Galactica because I liked the old show as a kid and did not like the idea of a remake rather than a continuation. I was surprised by how good it was though. I am look forward to the series starting.

I agree though Sci Fi's mini series are usually pretty bad. They just go too far over the top even for sci fi.

The Dune movies were great, I thought, but I have to second guess everything after 'Snakehead'.
