Bought it this weekend - have logged about 8 hours so far. I am generally not a fan of games that I end up playing vs cpu/AI, but this is a good one. The graphics are superb (wait until the platform is powerful enough to do full screen AA), and the customization and control are also the best I've seen. I already made the Niners - including designing their uniforms right down to logo placement and their stadium (went for a modest 30k seat setup).

I have Sega's 2003 NCAA football game, and while it's good, it doesnt have the controls this one does. I love the moves you can make while running - you can really turn a potentially bad loss into a big gain by juking, spinning and shaking off tacklers. Receivers and DBs have some good moves they can make to alter the outcome of a play. I'm working on pass rushing with the DL - that looks like it may take a while, but they have moves too. Somehow I threw an OL off me one time and drilled the QB, but I have no idea what button I pushed to do it.

The flaw in this diamond is that EA & MS are still feuding over XBox Live, so there's no online play. That's usually enough of a reason not to buy for me, but I said "what the heck" and tried it anyway.

What logo did you use for the Niners? Just the letter "C"?

Online is the only way to go, and XBoxLive! is one of the very few M$ products worth the money. EA will eventually cave to the pressure because the growing XBox contingent demands it and the product is so solid.

I go Cleveland Browns style on the helmets. Green w/ a triple stripe. I put the logo on the jersey front & the numbers on the sleeve. It's kind of weird lookin, but I like it.

I sim'd a season and we made it to the Peach Bowl. Not bad for a first year team.
