    Dwight Clark

The second paragraph mentions us. Any thoughts?

What's the difference between a GM and a director of football operations?

Clark was the director of football operations, Hurney was our GM. I'm not sure we need Clark.

It would be a shakeup, something I don't thing we need at this point.

Didn't Pasq or someone say he was overrated as a personnel guy?

I always liked Clark when he played for the 49ers. I took some classes with his brother who played baseball at UNCW, met Dwight at a game.

But I am drawing a blank as to what he achieved in his job at Cleveland. (Don't the browns still suck?)

He's vastly over-rated. We could use him, I imagine, as a fourth major front office guy. Were he good at drafting (I couldn't honestly tell you who was behind the good picks) he wouldn't be a terrible guy to take over for Bushofsky later on, he or from within promoting Softli.

    Around the league

Don't be surprised if former Cleveland Browns vice president Dwight Clark extends overtures in the direction of Carolina, once he decides to get active again in seeking a front-office job. Clark is a native of Kinston, N.C., grew up in Charlotte and was a college star at Clemson. He still retains close ties to The Carolinas and is fond of the area. The Panthers' current personnel director, Jack Bushofsky, almost certainly will retire in another year or two. That might open up a spot for Clark, or the Panthers could bring him in before that and prepare him to take over the scouting department upon Bushofsky's retirement.

I'd be ok with him taking Bushofsky's spot. Not like he could do much worse.

yeah, that tends to make sense. Worse things, I guess, and God knows we could take another 49er on. Now does it make sense why Al Davis was mad at our colors?
