this thread has helped me with my new DVD burner (esp for copying protected DVD's), so thanks a bunch for that. Can anyone recommend a program that will allow me to create a DVD from my home movies. I have a catpure card now, and can store the raw footage on my pc, but I am not sure what program will allow me to create a DVD with a selectable menu so that multiple movies can me placed/selected from the DVD (once it is burned).

Nero can do it, as can many other DVD authoring tools.

I wish someone would come out with an easier way to convert avi's to a dvd video format.

Ive tried going through TMpeg and all those little apps and it takes days.

What type of DVD are you using that can hold multiple movies?

I want to be able to load a few minutes (perhaps more) of a bunch of different things, kids soccer games, vacation clips, etc, and be able to select which clip to watch from the DVD (after it is burned). this would make it easy to send a copy to my kids grandparents, and let them select the parts they want to watch.

Did some checking into this. Apparently you have to use their encoder called "NeroVision"?

If the initial test returns results that it appears to, then this NeroVision Express will become my new favorite utility.

    :woohoo:
