How can I set Shrink/Nero to write at a slower speed. My DVD is 16X (and I am using 16X media), but I want to write at either 4X or 8X. I have set this on the DVD itself, but when I use the shrink/nero combo, it always writes at 16X.

Nero has one like that too. I don't have access to Nero at work.

Imgburn is the dvd decrypter replacement people. The guy who did Imgburn is the same guy who created Decrypter Ripit4me is good but nothing beats Slysofts Anydvd and Clonedvd.Anydvd has a built in ripper to repair the dummy sectors they put on dvds now. Also Anydvd HD is out.I can rip any disc with anydvd then run it thru shrink and thats it or use clone dvd

Just about all these FAQ's are for folks trying to copy a DVD to a blank DVD. Here is what I would LIKE to do:

Setup some kind of Home server (yes, I'm considering Windows Home Server, or some Linux flavor)

Rip each DVD in my home collection to either MPEG2 or MPEG4 format for storage on the server (drive space is not a consideration, I can add at will)

Watch these over the Network from my xbox360 or PS3, OR copy one to my laptop for watching on the plane during a business trip.

I'm hoping for a sort of dummy free point and click solution to get from point a to point b. Suggestions?

products like AnyDVD will rip to your hard drive. Many programs, like Windows Media Center with the DVD library plug-in, will read that stuff no problem. One day I'll build a 10-20TB library for all kinds of stuff, ripped DVD's included, and store it in a sound-proofed and air-conditioned room for access by everyone. Media Center that way is awesome, but by the time I need to do that I'll just watch movies from NetFlix or wherever instead, streaming content is already good enough for that they just don't have all of the movies available yet... Xbox360 movie/TV downloads are already there and GREAT...

AnyDVD isn't what it once was. Ripit4me works best.
