OK. I got my DVD Burner for Xmas and am ready to start messin' around... I read this entire thread thinking it would answer ALL my questions. It did right up until the last two pages which lead me to believe that DVDShrink, which was the way of the world when the thread started, no longer will work for making back-ups of copy-protected DVD's.

Basically I have a Sony DVD burner which came with Nero Express. What else do I need in order to be able to copy my DVD's? I'm looking for the FREE way. I don't want to have to purchase any software to do this.

    TIA!!!

shrink and decrypter still work great for me. Now you just have to find them.

What exactly is the difference between the two softwares? I was told that DVD Shrink is all I need.

I've now had two DVD's that didn't work with decrypter. Got an error message about 68% through the process saying something about a bad sector. Anyone else seen this?

Cool. I burned my first DVD last night. Although I had to lower the quality to the point where I actually noticed it (about 62%), it still worked pretty good. I only used DVD Shrink and still don't understand what the DVD Decryptor software is needed for, though....

Not a problem. As the site directed me to Google, I did just that and found it withing 30 seconds (I type slow).

Decryptor breaks the security algorythm on commercial DVDs and makes local files on your hard drive.

Like MPG's??? Cause you can write an ISO file to your harddrive with DVDShrink for use to burn additional copies later.

Is anyone using Shrink with Nero 7 full version? It locks up when it tries to create the copy disk.

I can still launch Nero and copy the image with no problems, it was just a lot easier to do it all within Shrink.

There has not ever been a dvd that I tried to copy that Shrink didn't copy.
