Doesn't your HD Cable box have a HDMI jack for input as well?

Just one HDMI port on the cable box. One left on the TV for the whatever kind of High Def DVD player we get. Right now the DVD player is connected with component cables straight to the TV. Optical cables to the AV receiver.

TW has it fixed. If you want an HDMI connection then you have to get the DVR too the regular digital box only has component.

Toshiba! Now they have a HDDVD player that is actually putting out 1080p. They actually have one that is twice the price and is using HDMI 1.3a but there are no recorded formats that can take advantage of the extra colors that 1.3a provides so there is a HD-DVD player in my future.

I love my HD TV. I used to watch TV about 3 hours a month if that. With HD TV I'm up to about 6 hours a week! :driving:

I felt the same way for a LONG time. The last straw(s) for me were taking a shitload of abuse from friends for still having a 15 year old TV at our last party and watching the SB in HD at a neighbors' house.

You should see an NBA game on the new TV. :hurray: And Jekyle is right - I watch all kinds of stupid shit I never woulda watched before. I don't know if that's really a plus though.

We settled on the Sony system for the DVD player. We now have three cords hooking everything up where I think there used to be 100.

one of the things that keeps me in sd is that everytime i see an hd set at somebody's house, they go to show it off and have to spend a while searching for something that looks good. invariably, they pass three or four stations of stuff that looks absolutely shitty -- like way worse than what i'm getting. whenever i put ntsc video on my lcd computer monitor, i get the same effect -- it looks like garbage. and yet those exact same movies play fine on my 32" crt. a bit baffling.
