Ok, so, I got the TV.

Now someone needs to recommend a DVD player so I can enjoy it.

If you got the Sony Bravia then wait. I haven't found an HD DVD player yet that does 1080p. Some Blue Ray players do but you need to check those too.

The man speaks the truth. Until the format wars are straightened out and prices come down, you're just as good with an $65 Philips Progressive Scan as anything else.

This is easy... Buy a PlayStation 3 and hook it up via the HDMI. Now if Blu-Ray wins the format wars you're ahead of the curve. If HD-DVD wins the format wars you've got a kick ass video game system.

Problem with that is that if HD DVD becomes the standard then you are stuck with a bunch of Blue Ray DVDs. Not a problem if you have three HDMI plugs in the tv so that you can route the PS3, HD DVD player and the cable box though it but if you only have two like I have then..:euro:

I'm waiting. There next generation of HD DVDs will have 1080p and there is one player out there that does both if you can find one on the shelf and if you can afford the damn thing when you do find it.

I actually thought about going ahead and getting the damn PS3 too. Dammit.:behead:

Yeah, me too. We were talking about getting one anyway. Y'all pretty much answered what I wanted to know..... which was whether I wanted to wait or maybe use an XBox. So thanks. I already have a crappy old DVD/VCR combo player that I can use for now.

I need to get some new audio stuff as well so I can just use the player that comes with the audio setup too.

lack of inputs on the tv shouldn't influence a decision like this. If you're that serious about home theater, you're gonna have a receiver with HDMI switching.

I don't have a home theatre and I don't watch TV but a few hours a month. What I do have is a heck of a nice TV and a great sound system to go with it.

You should see my big ass PC though.
