DVD Easter Eggs

Discussion in 'TV & Movie Discussion' started by Tiorted Snoil, Jan 6, 2003.

  1. I saw one of the entertainment shows over the weekend. Apparently on DVDs there are "hidden" menu items called "Easter Eggs." The Lord of the Rings DVD has a hidden 4 minute prequel to the twin towers, Attack of the Clones has 20 minutes ofgoofs and miscues...they said most DVDs now have Easter Eggs....you just have to find them.

They are real popular in PC games. Maxis (Sim City, The Sims) always puts some in. So does EA. Run an internet search and I'll bet you can find some sites that will list various ones for you.

they are "hidden" in the menus. It could be a cloud or something other than text. The easiest way is to find a website where someone has already found them and posted where they are.

If you go to the site below, you can find all the codes for finding the eggs. Some are REALLY cool, while others are as simple as a hidden trailer. They're all listed alphabetically by movie title.

For LOTR go to the Council of Elrond. Click down and you should see a ring pop up on the menu. Click on it and you get an MTV spoof on the Council of Elrond. Pretty funny.

For the Two Towers trailer go to the end credits. Go to 48 (I think, which ever is the last number) stay on the right hand side and click down. You should see two towers pop up. Click on it and you get the trailer.

The website that someone posted is a great resouce. That's how I found these.
