I thought the SCI-FI production of Dune a couple of years ago was very good. I've read all of Frank Herbert's Dune books, and I've got 2 more of the Brian Herbert/Kevin Anderson series to go.

SCI-FI will present Children of Dune beginning March 16.

If you haven't read the Dune series, I strongly recommend it. Very complex stories.

I started reading Dune back whenthe original movie came out. Back then , it was long and drawn out, especially for a 12 year old kid. Maybe i'll pick it up again.

The books can be long, but not Tom Clancy long. With Clancy, nothing actually happens until 3/4 of the way through.

Just for clarification, the Herbert/Anderson trilogy is a prequel to Dune. Every book had me hooked immediately.

The other book by Herbert/Anderson is The Butlerian Jihad, which is a prequel to their trilogy. It goes waaayyyy back to the times when humans stopped using computers and embraced the spice of Arrakis. It takes a while to get used to the fact that throughout the Dune series, no one uses a computer, nor are there androids. Yet it's science fiction at it's best, with futuristic stuff all over the place.

I cannot believe I missed this. Luckily, scifi is showing an encore this coming Sunday, back to back to back. 5-11pm.
