No need to get all pissy just because you are an arbitrary fan.

There are three valid reasons for pulling for a team.
1) Alumni - you are not
2) Home team - UNC is not your home team, Charlotte is
3) You are explicitly connected to the team in some way - once again I think you are not

Enjoy the fact that you got lucky and picked the winning team to pull for.

 

graduate from there no, but I did go to a UNC school. so my money is going into the UNC school system if you want to split hairs.
I have spent lots of time in Chapel Hill, was on Franklin st in 93 when they won.
and I didn't get lucky by picking the winning team, Ive pulled for the heels for 25+years.

Im not being pissy, I posted one thing about school affiliation and you turned that into Im wolfing about the Heels and looking for respect from you. your criteria for supporting a team changes with each post. this thread has turned into every other thread on this board...a neverending pissing match. Im starving and going to lunch.

I need a judge's ruling, please.

I live in China Grove and need to know which team I'm allowed to pull for. The only school near me is South Rowan High School - but I didn't go to school there.

Since there isn't a college in the town where I currently live, do I have to pull for the school nearest me? I'm about 33 miles from UNC Charlotte and 47 miles from Wake. Do I get to choose between the two closest or am I forced to follow the 49ers? If it's decided that I must follow UNC Charlotte, who am I allowed to follow during football season?

I'm thinking about going to a Dave Matthews concert in May. But, I just realized that I didn't go to school with Dave and wasn't born in South Africa. Am I allowed to be a fan and can I attend the concert?

Don't forget me. Wait! I grew up in Chapel Hill from 2nd grade through college( yes I went there ) Parents are both retired UNC professors, 4 of 6 siblings went there, and 2 grandparents went there. I witnessed the 8 point comeback in 16 seconds against Duke at Carmichael back in 1973 (I was 13 then). Still the greatest college game I have ever witnessed. Sly, I promise you I am the most ardent supporter of UNC AND Duke when they are not playing the Heels. Coach K does it the right way and that automatically gets my respect. Gene Banks and Johnny Dawkins are still my favorite Dukies. Wojo and Hurley grated on me but that was because they didn't come to UNC. Gritty little bastards Oh and we still both know what school has the prettier women. God knows I saw enough Duke sweatshirts in He's Not Here when I worked there as a bartender for three years

If you weren't smart enough to get into college, or weren't smart enough to go, then you don't really matter anyway.
