Duke vs new mexico st

Duke can actually run this year. Plus they've gotten some more shooters.

Taylor King doesn't mind shooting anywhere inside of half-court. Duke will be top 5 this year.

I thought about doing a "this just in" thread ala dukey, but i don't want to be a copy cat.

 

This game will look better by the end of the year. New Mexico State is suppose to have a real good shot at going to the tournament. Paulus looks a million times better and Duke really spreads the ball around and Duke is playing with a 9-10 man rotation!

 

Here's my first take on the Dukies...

Paulus looks like a different player this year.

King's shooting range is unlimited...which right now might not be a big deal but if he's taking those shots against better teams then he will quickly find his way to the pine.

Singler and Smith hasn't shown me a whole lot in this first game on TV, other than the fact that they are freshmen.

Overall this team looks a lot quicker, athletic and more into it compared to last year. I think McBoob going pro was the best thing to ever happen to this group. Duke is a better team this year but they'll still have problems defending the interior when they play better competition. If Zoubek would develop, it would be HUGE plus for the Blue Devils.

 

Henderson looks to have improved tremendously.

Scheyer will average 15 pts and 4 assists off the bench.

Singler didn't score a ton yesterday but the guy just knows how to play ball, constantly causing turnovers.

Zoubs can just stand there and get 4 blocks a game.

I seriously think Paulus may be a better shooter than JJ, just a lot less selfish.

 

I also think Duke has 7 guys who can put up double digit pts each night.

Just because of minutes though I think Singler, Paulus, Henderson, Scheyer, and Nelson will and that King and Smith will average 7-8.

When Duke gets McClure back they are legit 10 deep and the reality is Pocius isn't that big off a drop off to say they go 11 deep.

 

Btw, Martin Iti formerly of UNCC played for New Mexico St.
