No doubts about that. While I'm not diehard SEC or for that matter any conference or college team, the ACC has long been merely an annoyance and a token, save for a few good teams in the last thirty years, and the exception of FSU. Case in point - FSU lacks dominance in a year, every one of the remainders come away with a winning record, a counce in their steps, and just enough talent to cancel each other out. At least when the SEC or Big 12 runs into that problem, it's nationally impacting and causes good ball to be played.

I guess if you guys are talking football you have valid points... but I think at the end of the day the ACC has improved there. FSU made them. But looking at some other sports... Lacrosse, Womens Ball, Mens Bball, Womens Soccer, Golf, etc... the ACC is right up there with the best...

That's always good to know. When we discuss this in those forums, I'll keep that in mind. :D Meanwhile, I'll take excellent football over excellence in inferior sports.

  5. Uh Blue, let's talk about the facts:

Duke won the ACC title more recently than UNC. Neither UNC nor Duke nor State has won it since Florida State arrived.

State has beaten Florida State more times than UNC has.

As always, you "speculate" about Bunting being a better recruiter than Amato - while the numbers are looking otherwise. Didn't Bunting lose a pretty good OL? A WR? A QB and almost two? Let's talk about "driving off players". Amato's staff was highly compensated - you wonder why Norm went West?

Florida State is good, but the rest of the conference has made progress. The Noles had a down year.

Duke football kills me - I watch them, but it hurts. Even Penn State football hurts anymore. And with the Panther pain of last season, I should be in intensive care.

But Carolina's basketball season rescued me from my death bed...:D

I don't have to speculate about Bunting's recruiting ability. UNC and State have equal classes this past year. Bunting already has 2 top 5 NC players and another in the top 15 as verbals. Bunting will get his, as will Amato. I would bet however that Bunting is less likely than Amato to get caught in a recruiting scandal.

  7. Now Blue...

Don't you know that Amato learned from the best? If Bobby Bowden can be THAT successful, and apparently run a "clean" program, then I hope he taught Amato well.

Bunting learned from...Haslett? An Indiana University of Pennsylvania grad, who's most famous moment was dragging his cleat across Terry Bradshaw's head after Terry's helmet came off?

Bunting learned from...Mueller, the ex-GM of the Aints? Trader of Ricky Williams, and the overall destruction of New Orleans?

Bunting learned from...Tom Benson? Cool...guess he'll be dispensing beads to those hot UNC cheerleaders on the sidelines...

    :D

Norm Chow went west because he's a west coast guy. All his family lives there. Amato knew when he hired him that he wouldn't be around long. That's why he hired Marty Galbreath, so he could take over OC when Chow left. Galbreath was an OC at Marshall.

I haven't heard anything that tells me Amato would be more likely than Bunting to get caught. I think it's too early to tell if either one of them will be successful recruiters because they haven't been at their schools long enough to phase out the people they inherited.

As much as I can't stand Carolina, I do like Bunting, though. He seems to be a stand up guy.

No, but they have a team.

I see it as analogous to the situation in which someone asks, 'Are you working?' The person in question responds, 'No. I'm just an employee.'
