Duke's made it to the Final Four without a center before (2001) and even when he came back he was hardly a factor. If Melchionni and Dockery shoot the three well, it will be tough for any team to beat Duke. As bad as Duke played besides J.J. and as bad as they shot, they still almost won. I think they'll be ok. better to drop a non-conference game than an ACC game. Georgetown shooting 60% from the field was bad. Gottleib talked about Paulus' D and I think he needs to improve a ton on the defensive side of the ball. Cause whenever he gets beat Williams steps up and Melchionni hardly ever drops down to cover Williams' man.

do you really think it will hurt dook to lose a conference game?

I can't see them losing more then two and those will be a stretch.

maybe the Heels can play lights out and beat them in Chapel Hill - or maybe Maryland can get them. But nobody will beat them in derm and I don't see them losing anywhere else on the road.

maybe State can get another shot at them in the ACC tourney

i notice you didn't bother comparing Shav McRoberts to Tyler Hansbrough....but I guess I know why, there is no comparison.

Heck, Danny Green averages more points per game than either Paulus or the "new" Shav.

40Whiners, you're an idiot. McRoberts doesn't get the touches that Hansbrough or Green get. McRoberts is not scoring 20 points a game, or even starting but he's shooting about 60% from the field. It's not his fault that he doesn't get the touches. Hansbrough is playing better than McRoberts and probably will have a better career than McRoberts, but you never know. Battier averaged 7.5 points per game his freshman year and came off the bench. He's going to get a ton more touches next year. Has he lived up to the hype? No. But he hasn't done extremely bad either. Melchionni didn't even play his first two years and Dockery has scored more this season than his first two seasons combined. It's hard to judge a player in his first half of his freshman year. Especially when he isn't the first or second go to guy on his team. It's all about what a player does over four years.

Paulus leads the league in assists as a freshman point guard. Not even Bobby Hurley did that, and he got 14 points last game. You're being ridiculous.

The 3 guards that had major minutes:

    Cook, 6-2, 185
    Wallace, 6-1, 188
    Sapp, 6-3, 205

JJ is taller than these 3 players.

and even if you throw Owens in the mix, he is listed as a G-F and is 6-7, 215

Not so sure I see some major advantage in size there compared to dook. Maybe their guards are just tougher players than dooks??:imagestor

They looked more stocky for sure. Guess I was seeing Bowman outside a lot and getting confused. Duke needs Nelson back more for defensive reasons than offensive. He could have guarded Bowman a whole lot better than Melchionni did. Duke's guards did more than fine offensively, with Paulus, Dockery and Redick all in double figures but even though the stats don't say it, I think it was one of Paulus' worst games with all the turnovers and bad defense.

if shav mcroberts had hansbrough's skills, i think they find a way to get him touches...don't you? what a stupid argument you just made.

when did mcroberts lose his starting spot?
