    Duke’s Sean Dockery Out
    Indefinitely With MCL Tear

DURHAM, N.C. -- Duke junior guard Sean Dockery will be out indefinitely with a torn medial collateral ligament in his right knee. An MRI examined by Dr. Larry Higgins on Thursday revealed the status of the injury suffered in Duke’s 60-56 win over Georgia Tech on Wednesday night in Atlanta.

“We feel badly for Sean,” said Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski. “He was having a great year for us and was an integral part of the success we’ve enjoyed so far. He’s one of our fighters.”

In helping the seventh-ranked Blue Devils to a 20-4 (10-4 ACC) overall record this season, Dockery played in all 24 games with 19 starts while averaging 6.5 points per game. He is shooting 48.0 percent from the floor, 42.9 percent from three-point range and 76.0 percent from the foul line while ranking third on the team with 56 assists and second with 42 steals.

Duke is next in action on Saturday when it faces St. John’s at Madison Square Garden in New York, N.Y. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m., and the game will be televised by ABC.

Damnit, that is a huge loss. DeMarcus Nelson will have to step up big time. What hurts the most is if Ewing gets in foul trouble then Redick or Nelson will have to be the key ball handlers. He was one of the most improved players in the league this year. That is tough, and hopefully Duke can keep up the winning streak without him.

Well it's not the scoring they will miss, this will hurt them a lot more than Shav or Love ever could.

One less ball handler, means JJ and Ewing may never get a minute off the rest of the season. 5 less fouls to work with. Things like that really hurt with a short bench.

hes one of the biggest role players...

he was one of the key role players duke had this year... he was if not the best then 2nd or 3rd as far as our best defender on the ball... he stepped up and hit some shots when we needed em... not alot but the ones that counted. melchionni may step up even more with bigger gaps in the lineup again.. ewing just needs to stay outa foul trouble and redick needs to keep lightin up the scoreboard and sheldon cant have another sluggish night like he had down in hotlanta last night if we're going to play and contend for anything.

This is a big loss. Dockery was the primary ball handler. They really do not have another point guard. He was also a good defender. Making up his points is not a problem but the other areas he contributed in are going to suffer. Ewing is not a great ball handler and is not really a point guard. This could really hurt Duke. I can not remember a Duke team that did not have a decent point guard until now....

Gasp. I agree. We aren't a sweet 16 team without Dock.

I wonder if Nelson can handle the ball well enough to be our starting point guard? If we could keep Ewing from being our ball handler that would be really nice.
