DSL

    can it be seperated from a phone line similar to cable or is the phone service required?

    hmmm....I just read where it's available in many areas

    It is a contractual agreement between AT&T & Bellsouth becuase they were losing business of cell only users.

    I know it needs a phone line. I thought he was asking if you could sign up for DSL without having to have an additional charge for a monthly phone plan. Ours is through Windstream, formally Concord telephone. They made us sign up for a phone plan on top of our dsl plan.

    Bellsouth used to have a DSL plan where they gave you a number, but you couldn't use the line with a telephone even for 911 calls. This was at least 4 years ago.

    in some places with some providers you can get dsl without the phone service though...of course it needs the line

    becuase cable sucks a big one and regulary goes in and out on a daily basis everywhere I have ever used it

    and the house I am moving into already has DSLset up and operating so I wouldn't have to wait around all day for the fuckface techincian to bring the modem or worry about the quality of the cable in the area or have to deal with Comcast.
