There's alot of talk about not picking up Harrington, and how Henning made the comment about studying Weinke, Carr, and Harrington film and deciding the 3 were a push, so get Peppers.

Henning also said that the scouts and staff had Fasani ranked #3 on their boards, behind Carr and Harrington. That's mighty interesting, IMO, particularly with the media second guessing the decision to draft Peppers over Harrington. They might have been scoped in on Fasani all along.

True they may have, but the drop was considered significant from Carr and Harrington to anyone else. Fasini has impressed regardless and his upside is extremely high. He may one day be our starter although he looks like a damn good #2 at least. I haven't seen much the guy can't do well.

    However, it never fails...
The backup QB is always the most popular guy in town when you are losing.

I'm not saying we should play Fasani or anything, just trying to glance into the midset of the front office regarding Weinke and not drafting Harrington.

I'm thinking that maybe Fasani was the wild card. Whether he's worth a shit remains to be seen.

We needed to draft someone that would play this year. We made the right choice IMO.

I agree, even if Weinke and Fasani are both duds.

Yea, I would rather have Peppers and Fasini than Harrington and whoever...

I still think Julius is gonna be special.

we just can't afford to have the no2 pick in the draft come in and sit on the bench for a year. if we would have drafted harrington and he did start, it would have been a long season. ie. watch Carr this year.

Yep. That he was rated higher than McCown and Garrard by this staff? Hell they had Nick Goings as high as Kevan Barlow. This staff does have a skewed sense of value. OTOH they go and get who they want and while it's hit or miss they do hit.

I'm just glad they didn't pick Rohan Davey. Yeah, if they were looking for someone to play now, they probably got their guy - he's a player. Problem is he's about two years behind development. His saving grace was playing in a pro offense.

Problem again is that we were saying every bit of this last year. Glad we didn't draft, say, Quincy Carter or Tuiasosopo or something like that, Weinke should be able to handle starting when he must.

Whatever, whoever, I don't want to be dealing with this shit September 2003.

Yeah, but they picked Goings up FA, and waited to get Fasani in the 5th.

Yea, but rating Barlow and Goings as equals isn't quite right IMO. I wish we had Barlow right now.

That being said, I must say that our last 2 drafts have been impressive enough for me. Anytime you get the talent we have gotten (at the top or not) in 2 consecutive drafts, you should be happy. We are still a couple drafts away but that is mainly due to Anderson flopping so far, not to mention years of first round screw ups. This team still needs more playmakers.

The ship is being righted in terms of the draft, which is a great sign.
