The odds of us getting 2 first round picks are pretty slim aren't they??? Unlike a LOT of ney-sayers in here I like Peppers... but I also like Jammer... and I'm really answering my own question while posting this... but is there ANY way to get both without selling the farm??

There are no feasible ways to make what you're suggesting happen, no.

No way you could get both Peppers and Jammer. I'm hopin' da Boys will get away from this search for a RB and pick up Jammer. I've been watching him play for some time now. He's going to make one great pro player, IMHO.

ANOTHER db for dallas? isn't mario edwards enough? :D

dallas really needs to get someone to take over for emmitt. what's the knock on hambrick out there? why won't they give him the full load. he seemed to do well when given an opportunity. looked plenty fast. is durability a concern.

and you can have jammer as long as the panthers can nab phillip buchanon.

The knock on Hambrick is that Emmit won't take his ball and go home. He's runnin down a dream.

I wouldn't get rid of Emmit either. First, you got 2 heads blasting away out there. They compliment each other well. And shuld Emmitt go down, Hambrick can carry the load easily.

i agree. but whether emmitt accepts it or not, he's getting old and he will be replaced. this is probably his last year there, at least it would be if i were JJ.

if you know a guy is going out, then you need to have a backup ready to take over. i agree that hambrick is the guy, so why not just give it to him and tell emmitt that he's the backup now. hambrick has looked faster and stronger when i've seen him play. in my book, that gives you a better shot at winning if you give him more touches.

you think JJ is worried about reaction from fans? i mean, aikman HAD to retire and irvin was no great loss because of his off-field incidents -- but emmitt has been a pilar. i'll bet if JJ canned him, it'd be like richardson here cutting walls, beuerlein, kasay, greene AND mills on the same day.

i think JJ's being nice publicly about saying how he's never going to let emmitt wear another team's uniform, but once the record is his, emmitt should return the favor and retire.

if he REALLY loved the cowboys, that's what he'd do.

Being a Gamecock fan...I'd love to see us trade down to the 12th or so spot and grab Kalimba Edwards. The guy is FAST and is 6'6". Being compared to Jevon Kearse. THEN we should be able to grab a good CB...Just a thought.

Emmitt loves the Cowboys, but he loves football more, and he wants that record. If it was me, so would I. It’s not like he is unable to get 100 yards on the Skins anymore, even though he’s facing 8 and 9 in a box. Speed was never Emmitt’s strong suit.
Jimmy said it best. Sometimes Emmitt will get 25 carries, sometimes he’ll get 10, and Hambrick will get more. I think both can live with that.

I personally hate the Cowboys, but Emmitt I have nothing but admiration for.

I grew up in the Chicago vicinity and I can't help but hope that Emmit Smith does NOT break Walter Payton's record.

I know its simply nostalgia and all, but with Payton being the heart and soul of the Bears for so long (without any help either, like Smith has had), I'd just love to see him keep the record.

I loved it when Barry Sanders retired - for the same reason!!

That being said, even though I've hated the Cowboys all my life, I've grown to have admiration for E. Smith.
