Apparently McCants didn't want to play in Charlotte. I read in ESPNs rumor update that an ACC player he didn't want to name said he wanted nothing to do with Charlotte. (Probably wanted to get away from home.) Then I read this morning that McCants stopped his workout in Charlotte very short with a hammy pull, then worked out without a limp for the Clippers the next day. I'm sure the message came through loud and clear. Add that to his general health and attitude problems, and it was probably no go.

Sean May will be a very good player in the NBA for a couple of reasons. As mentioned earlier, the guy has a ton of heart. He also has great hands. A great work ethic with his touch and tenacity lead me to believe he will be very good.

However, I just dont understand drafting a backup at 13 when there are so many other needs elsewhere.

I wouldnt mind seeing Basden brought in either. The NBA is funny because its not about "what have you done" its about "what might you do". Those kids in high school, what have they proven, that they are 6-7 and can shoot or dunk over some 5-10 white boy?

100% agreed. I like May being a Tarheel fan but the fact that someone like Granger, a SF that is widely thought of as one of the 2 most well rounded players in the draft, still being available and at a position that is a need unlike a player that is projected as a backup at 2 positions has me scratching my head. Did they draft both to sell tickets? Maybe. But it's a business and there are alot of Tarheel fans in the area. That and the college season may not have much for them to watch. :thud:

i kinda doubt that. i was so bummed by all the drugs, sex scandals, fights, mouths, greed and other shit i really never expected to watch the NBA again, much less a team in Charlotte. not only are they local kids but much more importantly, May in particular seems like just the nicest, most likable player you could want. he is the reason i'll be watching and rooting on the team. if they had drafted McCants instead i still wouldn't be interested in watching the team or the NBA. the local team drafted a guy that i like a ton as a person is the only reason i now have an interest. and i seriously doubt even if they were going to the playoffs next year that if they had drafted someone else that i would care about them much less fill up a seat.

even if that HS kid from Texas (Green ?) doesn't become an asshole and does become an all-world player, i'll still be rooting for May and support the organization for drafting him.

long term I agree, but short term this would boost ticket sales and get the public's attention. Then in year three you can add another high draft pick and 2 big named free agents and make a legit run at the playoffs. Felton and May and a new arena increase ticket sales this year and a better team as a whole continue that growth next year and into the future.

Long term yes. I have no problem with the Felton pick. We got screwed on the ping pong balls and couldn't/wouldn't move up. My gripe was not drafting a need at 13. May will be a servicable pro not a Elton Brand like he is compared to (primarily due to the fact he won't start with Okafor and Primo ahead of him) but better than a Shane Battier (not bashing Dukeys her)

hmm, sean may was a fat assed out of shape player until roy came. what makes you think he's got a great work ethic? money talks, he'll have it now, what motivates him now that he's gotten into the league.

also, chris carawell had fucking heart, and was acc player of the year and lead his team to deep into the tourney (and lost to the same team carolina did, luck of the draw) but i think we all knew he wasn't nba material. not saying may isn't, but heart won't always get you somehwere.

and, uh, remember jr reid?? i smell that same thing. jr reid wasn't nearly as good as he was drafted, yet charlotte drafts a prominent unc guy. i can buy felton, i can't buy may.
