When does it become "OK" to take a guard - and how much are you reaching at that point?

depends on the guard. At one point, some were sold on Brown at 14 - Baas has solidified around 30, I guess. The best guard usually goes between 20-30. We'd probably have to trade down a bit, but he would fit like a glove.

I realize you were speaking in generalities, but I tugged on the string and was curious as to where it went. Feeling better?

I was feeling like that might be the most logical target at this point, and wanted some feedback, The only other conclusion I can draw at this point (still thinking as I mentioned above with the OT) that Thomas Davis might make some sence because we could have needs at either OLB or SS.

    yeah - I'm better, thanks.

As far as Brown goes... if they took him at 14 I wouldn't be overly disappointed as long as some other positions of needed upgrade were already off the board.

Baas in the 2nd would be damn nice, and if he lasts till the 3rd I'd take Jason Brown.

Elton's dropping like a rock right now.
J Brown's a hell of a center, and would work very well as a guard, but he's bulky, slow, and fits more of the inline blocker than we like. That was my lament after combine, because I really think he can be a hell of a player.

You think he's potentiual 2nd round now?

Yeah I also like the idea that he could be groomed a year or two to eventually take Mitchells place.

Here is a fairly recent mock that has us taking Cedric Benson. I could live with that.

    mock draft
