Florida signed men's basketball coach Billy Donovan to a new six-year contract that will pay the Gators coach an average of $1.7 million per season, athletics director Jeremy Foley announced Tuesday. Donovan's old contract, which paid him an average of $1.2 million per season, was torn up. Donovan is 149-73 in seven seasons as Florida's coach. Donovan has led Florida to five-straight NCAA Tournament appearances including one Final Four.

Good thing he signed this contract now. With early season games against Arizona, Louisville and Maryland, in addition to SEC, he might need the job security.

I'd stack Billy's first 5 years up against anyone elses. If UNC hadn't been able to get Roy - this is who I wanted.

I can see why you would like him after Roy. They both can recruit but can't win the big one with loaded teams.

He's a great recruiter for sure, and is becoming a pretty good floor coach. As long as he keeps Kentucky in line, it's okay with me.
