If you had to choose one position out of the starting five that you could not afford to lose, it would be the center positon and Sean May. May has played more like he is 7ft than his actual size of 6'8", and more like he is a senior than a freshman.

May's play and the lack of film and scouting of this young team helped the Tar Heels win early. Now teams have learned that they can sit back and force Carolina to shoot jumpers to score. As a result, the Heels have been dying by the three instead of winning by it. Felton has been inconsistent in his play. He is such a great playmaker, but he isn't very good at driving the middle, spliting the defense and getting the ball to the open man for a score. This is where Phil Ford could really help Doherty, along with recruiting. The failure to recruit a good center has been the main reason for the losses.

I believe Matt will get things turned around. It is going to take time to get the program back to the standards that Dean had set. Matt has two years to get the program to where it will compete for the ACC Championship and is a regular in the NCAA Tournament. Anything less, and MJ's former roommate, Buzz Peterson will be Chapel Hill bound!

Appie St. Buzz did you wrong.:) . Isn't he at Tennessee now?

as far as centers, did they push Gut out of the Smith Center? He was the big guy guy. Seems like they put Gut on Center duty still.

Karl was denied permission to speak with UNC by his owner and he was not very happy about it. He has since signed a new contract that has a clause stating that if the UNC job becomes available he is allowed to interview for it. Now, based on his coaching job at the world championships, I am not sure I want him as coach, but he would be available and willing.

I like Karl. He was my first choice the first time cause I knew Roy was staying. After him I agrred with Deano on Rick Majerus. I'm not to keen on Doh but I don't think he has been given enough time, yet....YET.

Other than recruiting top talent, I just haven't seen any improvement in him yet. I don't expect him to be a top 10 coach, but he shouldn't make a lot of the same stupid mistakes or decisions. Hell at least make some new ones!
