mo pete and nazr's contracts are pretty similar. both were the last year of their deals and each was just under $7 mil. there's no desire to keep mo pete, so really, the only thing i can figure is that the front office didn't think they'd be able to keep nazr next year so they traded him for a guaranteed contract.

You get cap space by letting Nazr walk, which I think they would have done. The upside is you get White who will play at a low salary and let us evaluate him before we decide on locking him up. I am not sure whether we could have kept Nazr but I really doubt we wanted to.

What are the rumors regarding Dwight Howard and Chris Paul???

Paul there MAY be a shot they could get since its home, but I see no way to get Howard realistically if ppl are thinking that. I guess maybe if they got Paul first and THEN Howard would want to play with him, but that still seems close to slim and none.

Chris Paul said he would not rule out Charlotte but I think he was just being nice because he was at an event with MJ. I have not heard anything about Howard coming here.

Howard made the comment himself during a recent game here...I think it was more of a joke w/ MJ than anything else.

I wonder if this line up could win some games:

    1. Paul / Augustin
    2. Henderson / Carroll
    3. Jackson / Cunningham
    4. Diaw / Thomas
    5. Howard / Brown

yeah, i guess that make some kind of sense. basically, they get to keep a lesser talent for lesser pay and maybe he'll turn out to be better and worth paying...

the cats are on the hook for about $50 mil in salary next year. they don't have enough to offer anybody a bigtime contract. they'd need to pull a sign-and-trade, but what could they offer no or orlando to make it worth doing? the only way to force either team's hand is to be in a position where either guy is coming here anyway, but that can't really happen. and i doubt either guy would want to join the bobcats instead of signing as a free agent someplace else if it means the cats need to dump a solid player.

You have to hope they get a good player or two from the draft picks they have now and that White and Cunningham turn into something. Once you build up a base of decent players through the draft then it is a lot easier to see an elite free agent wanting to come here.

I think they have enough talent to be in the playoffs next year if they can get everyone healthy and keep them that way. Jackson and Thomas need to play for them to be competitive. They need a big man though. Brown is OK and I would not mind having him come back but they need more than just him.
