My biggest issue with the church is how the priest can't keep their hands off little boys. I remember when my childhood church first allowed women to give communion. A little uproar but it passed. That was not an accepted practice at the time.

They need to do some serious reform work to make sure there are not so many pedophiles who get into the priesthood. I hope the new pope does more on that issue.

I would advocate the bringing back of Inquisition-style burning at the stake for those offenders. The Catholic Church has a wide selection of medieval tortures and mutilations from the past that would fix their modern boy-love problem.

somehow i doubt that medieval tortures would be a deterent here... just my guess.

The Episcopal church has a single head as well. And there was not a schism - the American and Canadian arms went overboard and were punished for it.

actually in the inquisition is when the "Church" solidified it's world wide political power. the people running the church were in no way going to be on the recieving end of the tortures the administered. in fact most of the leaders of the church ran their parrishes like a mafia don and did alot of what they persecuted. that is why the modern day church is slow on punishing molester preists.
