Let's say the a student at a Catholic High School (tax exempt) is giving the valedictory address at his commencement and wants to talk about his allegiance to Satan. The school prohibits him from giving the speech. Is he being discriminated against? Should be be able to sue? Should the school have to relinquish its tax exempt status?

This is why I always get apoplectic whenever gay "rights" people claim that they just want equality and that it won't actually affect heterosexuals. Of course it will. A lot of people don't care if two lesbians in San Francisco want to call themselves married, but they don't want it happening at their own church. That's what's going to happen, though, as soon as the ACLU comes calling. The gay "rights" movement is not just about letting gays do what they want, it's about activist homosexuals wanting to force their sexuality into every part of American life.

By technical definition, he is absolutely being discriminated against. The issue is whether or not you want to make that illegal. Personally, I don't care either way. But it is an opening for lawyers if the law states that public institutions cannot discriminate based on sexuality.

I am beginning to think you conservatives don't intentionally fearmonger. I am beginning to see that you actually think in terms of constant threats to your fragile psyche.

You might want to go back and brush up on the first amendment then.

No one is proposing hindering churches from performing religious duties to their members. My point in this entire discussion is that the religious component of marriage and the legal component of marriage, as recognized by the state, need to be separated. And they will be, I guarantee you.

You might want to read that article then. There are already cases where people were prevented from freely exercising their religion.
