My grandfather is a graduate of Duke Divinity School. He's now an 80 year old retired methodist minister and an unaplogetic Duke fan and alumnus. Naturally, I grew up a Duke fan. I remember when my parents wouldn't let me stay up in '86 to watch the National champtionship, then woke me up to tell me that we lost. I was six years old, and crushed. I remember being all excited because we whipped Danny Manning's ass the game before that and I was sure we would beat Louisville. It was at that point I first learned how obnoxious Carolina fans were. You scumbag bastards.

When Duke beat UNLV in the Final Four in '91, my dad and I had gone to a Gospel Sing at Oven's Auditorium, so we couldn't watch the game, but we took a radio in with us and I listened on a small earpiece. My dad kept hitting me and telling me to shut up. After the show was over we rushed out to the parking lot to listen to the rest of the game in the car. I remember Laettner making those two free throws, then my Dad and I jumping around the parking lot and hollering at some fellow fans at the Coliseum Inn across the street. It was so sweet beating those whores that had punked us by 30 the year before.

The next year during the tourney we were down at our beach house in Garden City. My grandmother had bought us all tickets to the Grand Ole Opry the same night we played Kentucky. I could barely watch the show. I kept hearing through the crowd that we had lost, but my grandfather evidently had been told by someone at the intermission that we had won in dramatic fashion, but he just told me, "Adam, we won, I just know it." I belived it and we damn sure did. That followed by beating the heralded FAB 5 as freshman whipped ass.

Still the Carolina fans did nothing but hate, and I kept developing a deeper hatred for these whores and spouted horseshit on a daily basis. Shit has spewed out of Carolina fan's mouths until the won the National Championship. I'd never rooted so hard for Michigan in my life. That sucked ass.

As I grew older, I lost interest for some reason. One, I was covering sports and had been doing so for about three years, therefore I could not cheer at any events. That hurt my ability to be a fan. I've since been able to get most of that back, but not the passion for Duke.

However, the pompous nature of the UNC fans here has gotten me back into the game. I'm back, Shav sucks, but we can get over that. Carolina Sucks, and all Tarheels can go straight to hell, then shove prickly pineapples up their asses.

    GO DUKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    BWHAHAHAA!!!

UNC is playing lights out while Dook is busy playing close games against Davidson and Tenn-Martin. Shav is a turd and She-Will and Ewing is all that Dook have to go against UNC. Don't say Reddick because he very seldom plays worth a damn vs. the Tar Heels. Not sure why, but that's the truth. Carolina will go inside early and often to get She-Will into foul trouble and then they'll go inside more when he's gone. I even had a dook fan admit to me that this year the matchup doesn't look like a good one for the dookies.

if it wasn't for us "tarhole" fans the dookies wouldn't have anybody to hate.

With the ABC crowd the hate list for us never ends.

Last time I checked, Duke blew out Tennessee Martin. Redick usually has some down games against UNC but even if he goes 2-8 he always finds a way to score in double figures, and you can talk about how McCants, May, Felton, and Williams are scoring at will, but Redick still leads the entire ACC in scoring. You can hate on him all you want, but he's having the best year out of anyone in the ACC right now, and until they stop finishing on top of the ACC, they are the team to beat. People forget that this year's Senior class is one of the least productive classes in at least 35 years. Just remember that in 2001 Reggie Love and Casey Sanders shut down the UNC interior Offense without Boozer, and everyone overlooked Duke to win it all and they did. Love might not be able to score at all, but he IS a good defender and all Duke needs is someone to kill some minutes for Shelden Williams who's just being nasty on the inside. I have faith in the Devils, and you should never look past a Coach K team. He's made it to the Final Four with far less talent. I think the key to this season will be the development of Demarcus Nelson. He has been improving each and every game which is a good sign and doesn't play like he's only 6-3. They might not win the National Championship this year, even though they have just as good of a chance as anyone, but they will definitely make it out of the 2nd round, which is something I can't say anyone who plays for UNC right now has ever done in their tenure in Chapel Hill

    THAT'S you argument... BWHAHAHA

Not exactly sure where I was hating on him, but like I said he never seems to have good games against UNC. You admit it and then say he will score in double figures...

So UCONN is the team for everyone to strive to beat in the NCAA this year... right? Weak.

People forget Kris Lang was the starting Power Forward for UNC that year, and that's not impressive. Furthermore if you wanna argue about 4 years ago I could bring up tons of old games.[/quote]
    Bullshit.

More like the key to next season or 3 seasons from now.

    Bullshit.

We'll see after dook hits ACC play. I have a feeling their gonna see some damage once the in conference games get in full swing. I'll be curious as to your opinion then.

While JJ does lead the ACC in scoring, you really can't compare him to the UNC players you mentioned because they aren't/don't have to play the minutes JJ does, so those numbers are a bit skewed.

First off, it's not like UNC is playing perrenial powers. Cleveland State and Wilmington aren't what I call great competition. This is the most wide open the NCAA tournament has been in years. Demarcus Nelson WILL play an important role on determining how well this year's team will play, as well as the next 3 seasons. I guess it's just differen't cheering for a team that doesn't struggle to make the tournament like it's been in year's past. I really think that any team in the top 6 of the ACC could win the title. No one thought NC State would come in second last year and they did. I just like how the Duke fans are being quietly confident cause we know that we will win over 20 games. The only difference is that if Duke wins 25 games and UNC wins 25 games, Duke is having a down year and UNC is having a tremendous year. The standards are so high at Duke right now it's ridiculous. Coach K in 1994 pretty much made the final four with Grant Hill and 4 roleplayers. That team's second best player was Capel or Antonio Lang. In my honest opinion I will be very shocked to see Duke win the national championship because they are thin in each position but you can't deny that they are talented enough to go just as deep in the tournament as everyone else. Ewing and Redick are playing lights out and as long each of them are scoring 20 a game, Duke will be a force in the ACC

But a Duke fan arguing with a UNC fan is like a UNC fan arguing with a Duke fan anyway. Just ends up going in circles till the season is over :xyzthumbs
