I wonder if the phone line would work to DirecTV if the line is not activated, you don't have a phone line service. Nah, dumb question..

I love the DirecTV as well. I have had very little problems with the service going out in bad weather either. Usually the worst that happens is the HD signal messes up and we change the channel. I have had more problem when it snows than when it rains, but that usually comes from accumulation on the dish. However, due to all this global warming and what not we haven't had very much snow in my part of the mountains in quite some time.

You used to need a phone line for the older Tivo's but that is not necessary anymore. I have not had a phone line plugged in for years.

pretty sweet so far. Only thing I dont like is there is absoultely no ryme or reason to the channel lineups. Hd are channels are all over the place. There is 100 ppv channels right in the middle of the "regular" channels.

you'll get used to that... the nice thing about that though is no matter where you are in the country, if it's DirecTV... you know where all the channels are

I usually hit guide, then 3 and let the menu jump to locals, 500 to HBO, etc...

my fav sequence is guide 212...

Hit guide once then scroll dpown to HD channels and it brings them all up for you.
