This has only been discussed and debated about a million times here and it seems the same people can't get their dish right....like you.

If you get your dish properly alligned, you will hardly ever loose a signal and never for more than a few seconds. Most of the contractors that show up to installs don't allign them right. Most because they don't know any better and some just don't care. They also need to be adjusted occasionally.

I had someone that knows their shit come and adjust mine and I have not lost a signal since. It also can't hurt to tip your installer BEFORE they do the job. It is free install so pry out a couple 20's and tell the guy you want him to treat it like his mothers house. You will be surprised how much better the service is.

If you loose service every time it rains hard, you need to pay someone qualified to come allign your dish.

Yeah, they are expensive coming in as a new customer. I have been with directv for about 6 years and when I called and asked what they could do for me they ended up giving me one and I just had to pay for the service.

Directv is good that way. They take care of customers based on how long you've been with them and how much you spend. Once you become a 'premium' customer you get a card that gets you to customer service or tech suppport with no hold time, same day service calls and free equipment.

Anyone try those dish covers that are suppose to make the reception during bad weather more reliable? Signal goes through it but it keeps rain and snow off the dish.

Only lost mine for two 5 minute spans last night and I have some tree problems to boot this time of year. Rain, in and of itself, isn't much of a problem but big ass thunderheads are.

Yeah, exactly. I had moments where it pissed rain and didn't go out, and other times when the clouds are thick as a blanket but no rain, and no satellite either.

It's much more dependant on how thick the clouds are.

    I agree with this completely.

I also don't think you didn't lose signal one bit when it rained 8 inches over 48 hours. I also don't think you watched tv all 48 hours. When the main problem is clouds and we've had a tropical depression parked over us for 2 days, there are going to be some outages.

    It will be ok, though.

'What ever' you say. It hurts being called a douchebag by someone whom everyone on the site thinks is a douchebag.
