I have a Canon PowerShot A40. How can I take faster pictures. I know I can shoot a 30 second movie with this thing, so I know it can be fast.

How do I quickly take numerous pictures? (I can only get it to shoot about every 15-20 seconds)

How can I get the camera to shoot the pictures at exact time I hit the button? It usually has a short delay - even after I turned off the programed delay.

With my experience with digital cameras, I have found that when shooting single images it takes a few seconds to process the information before you can shoot the next shot. Mine captures the image right when I depress the "shutter button", but it takes a couple seconds for the image to appear on screen. This has been a concern for sports photograpers in the field who have switched to digital. I am looking at buying a pro digital camera and seriously considering the Olympus E20. Olympus has done a lot of work on reducing the image processing time to allow sports photogs, like myself, to shoot repeatedly to capture fast action with little to no lag time in image capture when the button is pressed. The E20 is a mid-priced digital camera (about $2000 new). Lower end camera users will have to continue to tolerate the lack in speed in their picture taking until newer technology becomes more affordable - and, looking at the past couple years of technological advancements and dropping prices, that won't take long.
