Dieting Suck!

  1. I have digital fat calipers....it takes three readings, your thigh, your chest (for men tricep area for women) and your waiste. It then calculates the results for you.

    Back to Fred's point...the "maintenance" phase is a misnomer...anytime anyone loses significant weight (50 or more pounds), lifestyle and permanent eating habits need to change. Are you saying that once someone loses 50 pounds they can go back to eating cakes, potatoe chips, french fries, etc like they did before they lost their weight? I think not unless their goal is to gain it all back...the maintenance phase keeps servings of such things low so you don't gain the weight back for long term weight management....again, it is explained in the book.

    Fred, before you debate the diet anymore, you need to read the book because everything you bring up will be answered there. Atkins himself screens people who should be on it in the first chapter. The diet is not for everyone and he explains why. For anyone to criticize the diet based on rumors and "what you've heard" is ignorant. I'm not trying to start a fight here, but didn't you say you were 30 pounds overweight? I don't know about you but I don't get stock market advice from people who take residence in the homeless shelter and I wouldn't take weight loss advice from a fat person either.

    Don't you think you just may be a fan/poster child of the Atkins diet because it works for you? Alot of the comments made in this thread have been against it. I wouldn't take these comments to be rumors, just honest fact. Your opinions and advice are appreciated, as always, but there is a possibility you may not know everything. (just a thought)

    I'd think so...if it were my heart rate then it would be. How old are you? Age is what determines the heart rate ranges....

    I'll try to find some literature on the ranges today and post them in this thread.
     
  4. I went on the Krispy Kreme/Taco Bell diet and it kicked ass. Very quickly, I got up to 295 pounds and 73% body fat. It's very important to lie on the couch for at least 2 hours per evening and sit on your ass as much as possible at the office.
