Dieting Suck!

    tea isn't a replacement or a substitute for water. I usually add a little lemon to my water just for flavor. Crystal Light is good as well.

    My husband was on the Dr. Atkins diet and gained weight. Now he's on a low Cholestorel diet and walking and has lost 20 lbs.

    I eat too much bread and pasta. I was up to 190 last x-mas. It has varied since, but I am at my thinnest in a long time at 172. I drink at least 7 bottles of water a day. I only have one big meal at lunch and usually a sammich or cereal for supper. No breakfast. I can't stick to an exercise regime. I have tried. I hope when things slow down I can start back up. I like to jog just before dark and work out on my Chuck Norris Home gym. That's about it. I am horrible at sticking to it though.

    No, smartass - he didn't cheat. Why would anyone want to cheat on the Dr. Atkins diet?

    I would love to drink water. But get this. Water makes me nauseous. I know that sounds stupid but it does. My doctor even looked at me like I was crazy. I can drink just a sip or two but anymore than that and I am sick as a dog. Does anyone else have this problem.

    And I am addicted to these damn cokes. Cokes is a tougher habit to break than cigarettes!

    You bring up a good point about drinks with caffeine or other substances that are diuretics (make you urinate). While water is the best choice, you can still get plenty of fluids from coffee or tea. Just because you drink 8 ounces of coffee doesn't mean you are going to urinate out 8 ounces of fluids. Actually, the diuretic effect of 8 ounces of coffee is 2 ounces, so you gain 6 ounces of fluid with each cup.

    Consider yourselves enlightened.

    my attitude on dieting is that you have to find what works for you. What works for me may not work for the next person. Plus, what works for a man may not work for a woman. Men like to gain muscle and women just like to be toned. To each his own.

    It's relatively easy for me to lose weight once i put my mind to it...and i'm only aiming to loose 10lbs.

    The problem is people look at the diet and think "I can eat all this meat and cheese" and they do. But they also sneak in the bread and salad dressing etc so they end up gaining weight.

    He may have gained weight but it was probably muscle mass weight. If he gained fat, he was cheating. Probably Twinkies at work.
