Did the Bobcats draft UNC players to draw a crowd?

Scouts check out all these guys. They don't just watch UNC games like you do.
Or, at least I think our guys watched some other games. Who knows...Bob might not have sprung for more than basic cable.

I saw CV as a small, believe it or not, next to Okafor. A big, gangly small like a lot of teams are using now. He's got the perimeter game for it, it'd be a question of whether he could play transition against a slashing 6'6 small, but that's a question of any converted power. Certainly a worry of May's, if they try some silly shit like have him play SF (which, of course, we still need).

As it stands, other than moving Okafor inside full time (still feel like EO is better at PF), I don't think I see a 40 minute role for May.

That said, as a raw basketball player, he's got a good enough 15 footer to be considered able to face the basket, he can pass well, and he's got the footwork to hang against a fair amount of power forwards at this level. It's not that he's shit, he's certainly not. He's got a ton of assets, and hopefully they'll all translate to the pro level without showing any glaring weaknesses, like being against a quick team and watching him suck wind, or like getting up against a tremendously large team like the Pistons and seeing May unable to use his size to counter his lack of height.

The Bobcats should have traded out of #5 and taken Jack later and McCants at #13.

I would take Felton over Jack any day of the week. Bobheels could use McCants(that position anyway) but obviously Bernie thinks May was a better fit. or saw mcCants at the workout and was unimpressed with him.

one thing with these picks is that they weren't drafted on potential or upside on down the road like a HS kid, or a euro project. they all played big minutes for three years on a high profile team, and Im sure that did not go unlooked.

I think everyone agrees with that, but it takes 2 teams to make a trade.

They said they were very impressed by May's outside shooting at his workout. I'm guessing better than at UNC, so maybe better than 15'. Roy W. said they used May inside, so he didnt have the chance to show it. Why can't May play SF? Is it speed?

They also said in his 2nd workout, he was able to do quite a bit of running. Apparently he couldnt do that in his first, and he worked on it.

May's body type doesn't lend itself to being a ripped 230. His workout regimine prior to his senior year is well documented. I don't think anyone that watched Carolina play last year can make the assertion that May was out of shape. You aren't out of shape and play that many minutes in the up tempo system that williams plays.

His first workout with the bobcats was an individual workout and bickerstaff said that its much easier to get through it if you have someone else going through it with you. He worked out with CV the second time and fared better.

I agree that he doesn't have the lateral quickness, nor the handle to play on the wing. He can certainly spot up and shoot from 15 feet and has does the footwook and polish to contribute immediatly offensively. I think he can rebound and defend effectively enough to play some 5, but he does tend to struggle when going against real long opponents.

He shaves his eyebrows much better than May does.
