Eagles | Running Game Cloudy - posted at KFFL (http://nfl.kffl.com)
6:32 PT: The Philadelphia Inquirer reports the Philadelphia Eagles have another cloudy offseason coming in dealing with their running game. Starting RB Duce Staley had a nice season, but isn’t a lock to come back as the team’s starter in 2003. He is scheduled to make $2.2 million next season, and the team has to sit down and decide if they want to keep it or dump it. Correll Buckhalter (knee) is expected to return next season, and the team also has rookie Brian Westbrook.

I'd LOVE to see Deuce in a Panther's unifrom next year... he helped to MAKE that offense... he's tough as nails... fits this scheme... and almost always gaines positive yards.

2.2 mil isn't that big of a cap number, I wonder if that is what he is going to make or his cap number....if it is his cap number, that's not bad at all...especailly for a top RB.

They went to Westbrook too much that last game. Duece must be in Reid's doghouse for whatever reason, but Westbrook "oops, I dropped another one" does not impress me.

I'd take Duece over L.Smith anytime. He would atleast give us a solid backfield with Dee Brown so we can bypass a top round RB pick and wait & see with Foster.

I wouldn't hold the carriage up for Stephen Davis either. I'd rather have Davis, but I wouldn't pass up Duece for only a shot at him.

Deuce would be good. We can't be doing that "let's risk our starting RB's neck by diving him off RG ten times in a row" shit, but he's local, he's a strong runner, and can get enough inside, especially on traps, that sweeps and draws would be advantageous as well.
