Charlotte player facing 2 charges, Brown is accused of communicating threats

Charlotte 49ers guard Demon Brown was arrested Monday after being charged with two counts of communicating threats.

The misdemeanor charges against Brown, a 23-year-old senior, stem from a verbal altercation last week at an apartment in the University area.

According to a police report, a 21-year-old woman told authorities a man threatened her and another woman at about 10:30 p.m. Feb. 4. The man flashed a gun and said:

"I'll blow both of ya'll (expletive) brains out," the report states.

Brown, who could not be reached, was not charged with a gun-related offense.

The report also shows a man went to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police headquarters a day after the alleged incident, saying the gunman who threatened the women also threatened to shoot him. The three reported victims all told police they saw the weapon.

Authorities issued an arrest warrant for Brown Friday, court records show. Mecklenburg officials said he was arrested Monday and released after signing a promise to appear in court. A hearing has been scheduled for March 23, records show.

School officials have not taken disciplinary action against Brown, but are monitoring the case closely.

"We take any such matter very seriously and will continue to look into the accusations," 49ers athletics director Judy Rose said in a statement. "As we learn more about the events and circumstances and gain more information, we will take appropriate action."

Mitchell Baldwin started in Brown's place Saturday in the 49ers' 96-90 Conference USA overtime victory against East Carolina. At the time, coach Bobby Lutz said the move was a "coach's decision based on a non-basketball reason." He didn't elaborate.

 

It's all a huge missunderstanding. Demon just went by to see the young ladies to give them their Valentine's gift early (since he will be in St Louis on the 14th). I believe what he told them was the traditional West Baltimore Valentine's salutation of "I'll FUCK both of ya'll brains out" while brandishing his johnson. The young ladies simply did not hear him correctly. It's all good.

 

Let's not forget the rumble he and Vince got into at the beginning of last season that resulted in his sprained hand. Lucky the cops weren't in on that.
