Damn unions. Without this bargaining, the owners would take 8.5 of the 9 billion ready to split, no one could complain, and we would have football.

I know, right? Those 30+ owners should get 90% of that pile of cash. Afterall, they work so much harder than the players, they create all the jobs, and class envy is ugly. That is the American way.

Football players are probably gay socialists.

Sure, I can see where you're coming from. I doubt I would win an argument in favor of the owners with most people.

The players don't have to ante up 100 million or whatever, to get into the league.

Actual goodness would involve all parties making less and letting the average fans back in but their collective greed won't allow it.

havent been following the ins and outs of the negotiations, but are there any real sticking points besides division of revenue? Are long term health benefits for former players a point of concern in any of this? The 18 game schedule is a bargaining chip it seems, franchise tag too.

The owners have a legitimate gripe about how their expenses have increased disproportionately to their revenue, as city and state governments have finally wised up and stopped giving away so much public money for stadiums. The union claiming they need to get access to all financial information to confirm that expenses have increased is just asinine. That said, the owners are being retarded also by even bringing up an 18 game schedule. Ultimately, whichever side "wins," the fans will definitely lose.
