Out of the way, but in Mooresville there is a place called The Prickly Pear, which is in a converted 18th century church. Great dining experience, probably the best Mexican/Southwest food I've had. They also have a Pear juice margarita, fuckin' awesome. Great for a romantic evening with the Mrs or girlfriend. Expect to lay some money down if you go there though. Two people can get out for around 60 or 70 bucks with drinks and tip.

If you are ever in Hickory there is a place on Highway 127 in Viewmont called El Tapatio that is pretty good.

my parents love that place. I've never been, moved away before it was around I believe.

There's also an italian place somewhat like that, more rustic, called La Cav, in Salisbury.

The place on East Blvd sucks.

Azteca is awesome. Haven't been in years.

Current favorite is Taqueria Mexico on South Blvd. in Starmount. You will likely be the only non-mexican in the place.

I go there all the time. It is awesome. :agreed:

You wouldn't know it from looking at it though and you'll drive right by it if you don't know what you are looking for.
