While on the range near his ranch in 1884, Bullock met Theodore Roosevelt, who at that time was a Deputy Sheriff from Medora, North Dakota. Bullock and Roosevelt became instant friends. During the Spanish American War, Bullock volunteered as one of Roosevelt’s Rough Riders and was named Captain of Troop A in Grigsby’s Cowboy Regiment. From that time on Seth Bullock was known as “Captain”. In 1905, Bullock organized a group of fifty cowboys to ride in President Roosevelt’s inaugural parade.

yeah,,,I've been reading up on a lot of the history of Swearengen & Bullock and some of the other characters on Deadwood, including the fires...but I refrain so I don't ruin to much from the show for others...

Like I knew Wild Bill was going to get killed in Deadwood, A's & 8's...deadman's hand...I was just hoping not as soon as he did. Even last night's show Jane referenced to wanting to be buried near Hickock...she doesn't die in Deadwood, but she's buried there...Charlie Hunter too I think, but those graves are later moved.

The Gem that Swearengen runs at it's high point pulled in over $1 million dollars a month...plus a hotel that Bullock builds is the only original building left standing today. I guess he was a helluva a carpenter...

You know why that town is called Deadwood?
