It would be funny if we got Capers to be DC. Maybe we can sign Kerry Collins too......

I would look at the top defenses around the league and see if an assistant looks like an up and comer. Pittsburgh, Philly, Baltimore, etc...

McDermott is a promising young coach from Philly. He was rumored to be their DC but then they hired Nolan. Capers is DC in (GREEN BAY).

Reid is more progressive about letting coaches interview for upgrades and/or promotions than most coaches had been in the past.

Only thing that would specifically make me unhappy would be Cottrell. I don't have a problem with Crennel but it'd have to be as a 4-3 or as a hybrid defense. He's mostly a 3-4 guy, but did the hybrid thing with NE, and I'm sure he could coach a 4-3 defense, but you'd rather have a guy who's more philosophically aligned.

I'm pretty sure they still have Jim Johnson as their DC in Philly.

    No.
I was literally just thinking about Haz, and the more I think about it, the more sense it makes.

    they coached together in Oakland.

OMG HE COACHED A 3-4 ONCE

He's definitely a candidate, the rumors say. His abysmal performance in STL notwithstanding, I don't know I can put that all on him and things got better with Linehan out.

Plus Rick Venturi was one of his assistants, and he's one of my assistant coach candidates.

Marvin Lewis still have a head coaching job? How about Mike Nolan, he did a good job as DC for the Ravens....
