    Pole winner Dale Earnhardt Jr. will have to go to the back of the field for the Daytona 500 after a wreck in Wednesday's practice.

    Earnhardt will be forced to use a backup car because of the wreck, mandating that he move to the rear of the field. Earnhardt was drafting behind Hendrick Motorsports teammate Jimmie Johnson when he lost contact with Johnson, causing a chain reaction. Martin Truex and Earnhardt got tangled up, a move that cost Earnhardt the pole position for Sunday's Daytona 500.

    "I just really don't know what was going on there," Earnhardt said. "You got to pay attention out there man if you're going to come here and race."

    "We got plenty of race cars and I ain't worried about fast we'll be. We'll be fine. It never feels good tearing them up.

    "I didn't think I needed to be out there practicing. I had a bad feeling about it."

    NASCAR needs Jr to have a good year. I'll be shocked if he doesn't. Of course, I thougth that last year, too. :wacko:
