we don't know that he "clearly wasn't judged the best candidate." There was a report of a clash with Savage, which may have happened at the interview itself. There was certainly pressure from Lerner to revamp the offense completely, so the pressure may have meant pressure to hire an outside guy regardless. The mass firing of coaches suggests as such, and their want to keep him at the AHC/OL position suggests they did not believe him to be a part of the problem.

Or the interview may have been a courtesy, not unlike interviewing Skipper and McCoy, or interviewing a fired HC's former coordinators, and therefore not representative of whether he was actually in the running.

This is why I have no respect whatsoever for yor intellect. The idea that you consider an interview with Food Lion to be "in the ball park" with interviewing to be an NFL offensive coordinator is extraordinarily retarded. It is NOT in the ball park.
No, it isn't. Davidson was the interim coordinator. He had previously interviewed for OC positions. He was interviewing again because he wanted the job and he was not chosen. He was not interviewing for the hell of it or to get experience at interviewing (the Rooney rule doesn't apply to coordinator positions anyway, genius). To paraphrase Herm Edwards, you interview to get the job.
You confused omnipotent with omniscient, and yes it is a fact. He wanted the job, Savage interviewed him, and Savage selected someone else. Davidson did not remove his name from consideration, he was simply not chosen.
Convenient excuse. Like I said, you know as well as I do that you wouldn't be doing this with anyone else.
Yes, we do. He did not withdraw his name from consideration, we have no evidence that he ever exchanged contract requirements with them, and that's not the way OC interviews work anyway. You interview with the intention of being hired.
I'm not saying that him being repeatedly turned down automatically means he's a failure. I'm saying that it's a reason to be concerned, and it is. You and the King Idiot are only arguing with me about that because I'm the one who is saying it.

Prove it. Show me something from the Davidson, Savage, or the Browns front office saying that it was the Browns decision not to hire Davidson and that it was not a courtesy, practice, or any other interview.

Show me that definitive proof and I'll admit I was wrong.

Otherwise, there is a possibility, however remote, that something other than the Browns saying "get lost" exists.

You claiming "Well, that's just not how it's done" is not a legitimate reason, it's a logical fallacy.

And yeah, I meant omniscient. Originally I had "all knowing" but changed it for some reason. Oops.

And as for arguing over "in the ball park", let's not bother. I know how you love to try to "win" arguments by nailing someone on some issue of semantics that is totally irrelevant to the actual discussion. And frankly, I don't give a rat's ass what your definition of "in the ball park" is.

Fact of the matter is, people in all industries and walks of life, be it stock boy or NFL coach, go on interviews even if they don't expect to get or even want the job.

And oh yeah, genius, whether or not it applies to coordinator positions is completely irrelevant.

This argument is ridiculous. Who gives a crap if he got passed over or he withdrew his name, or whether he is using all or some or none of the Patriots playbook. He's our OC now, and we won't know a damn thing until late summer.

Yes, but the only one that matters is the entry in the Merriam-Collin-Webster's Third New International Dictionary, Unabridged.

You're asking for an unreasonable level of proof precisely because you already know that you're wrong. You're the guy comparing interviewing for an NFL position with interviewing at Food Lion, and you're the guy pretending that people can apply for an NFL position with no intention of taking it. You're being a complete idiot, as usual.

Davidson clearly wanted the job, and he didn't get it. Find me any news report anywhere that says he withdrew his name from consideration. You can't, because none exist. But media reports do note when applicants remove their names from consideration, while they don't state that every candidate interviewed was "rejected." That's just understood, which is why it isn't spelled out.
I don't think you even know what "logical fallacy" means, and you certainly didn't use it correctly right there. But yes, that is how it's done. It doesn't take any inside knowledge of the NFL to realize that people don't just interview for the hell of it, and that they don't often just pull out from the interview process in the middle of it. When the latter happens, it's reported, and it was never reported as such for Davidson. He wanted the Cleveland job and he did not get it.
Agreed. You were a moron and a half for even bringing up interviewing for an NFL coordinator position and interviewing at Food Lion in the same sentence, but that's the kind of idiocy that you're known for.
This is where you once again show your astounding ignorance. Coaching positions in the NFL are extremely limited, and they depend so highly on reputation that if you go into one just fucking around and not actually interested in the position, you pretty much guarantee that you will never get another one. That does not happen.
