I didn't want to say it, admittedly because it would draw ridicule, but in my state right now, so would I.

Jesus, we're going to be minus CJ and Hardy -

We- we have no strengths!!!! We're going to be so fucked, and this fat fucker totally tore down a playoff team to it's ASHES......

I will always be thankful that his last game for us was fucking heroic...

    Steve, how healthy are you?

    ...89%.

    Sigh.

And that "angry little munchkin" went out and scored a TD - I think the only one we HAD!??? for us against San Francisco on a BLOWN GODDAMN KNEE, before he just couldn't walk anymore...

That's what he left for us.....that's what he did for us....he came back too early and gave us a little juice before we got jacked....

Through all the bullshit and bad years one thing I could always count on on Sundays was 89 bringing it 110%. I had some good damn times watching that fucker and Dave Gettleman can suck my motherfucking dick.

I thought as Smitty left the field, he didn't look particularly happy. My thought as I looked at his face was - it wasn't all that satisfying humiliating his former teammates. Those guys he probably still cares about for the most part. His grudge is with Gettleman mostly, and Rivera somewhat. Yes, he showed them, but it also meant making some good friends look like shit, and that probably didn't make him very happy.

When he attacked Bright & Lucas, I was very angry and never cheered for him those two years. But he is without a doubt, the most electrifying player we've had, definitely on offense - and I am a big Moose fan. From his first touch of the ball as a rookie no less! LOVED having him here. Letting him go made no sense for the team financially, and I venture to guess, losing the fire he had I believe has hurt as well. Even without pouting, I just don't think Cam is or will ever be the sort of leader to push players in the same way Smitty did. Thomas Davis might some close, but we lost our fiery offensive leader. It's sort of like Richardson expecting Peppers to step up as leader - you want some very shy, soft spoken guy to do that? It's not going to happen.

That's what I took away from it, not any feeling that Rivera did something wrong but rather the impression that Rivera really is Gettleman's bitch.

    That's been pretty apparent though.

FWIW I do think that's pretty normal in NFL circles. The reason why shit is so chaotic in SF is because you have two alpha's battling it out. Most teams have our chain of command and I do think a lot of head coaches are puppets. I think it's one of the main reasons why the Cowhers and Grudens have happily stayed in television.

    Yeah Rivera is little buddy.

I liked Gettleman until that disingenuous attempt at lying about his intentions. So obviously full of shit. Was willing to cut him some slack in a tough situation ie Marty's total mess he inherited but he burned any goodwill he had earned. Smart move Dave, alienated a lot of people who were on your side.

    Fuck him.

One of the most discouraging aspects from a football standpoint is how far off Gettleman's evaluation of the problem was. Smith is obviously still an excellent player and at 7mil a year was probably even a bit of a bargain. If Gettleman was really a competent and ballsy leader, he would have told Rivera to shitcan Mike Shula or both or you can hit the bricks. But instead he's just a fat ex-scout who likes to stockpile defensive linemen.

You can't simply be handed a leadership role, you earn it. You don't earn it with your mouth at a presser, you earn it through performance on the field.
