Wolfpac and I had the opportunity to see Dave Ramsey live this past weekend in Charleston and it was a lot of fun. The guy is a great speaker and really gets you motivated to pay off debts and save for your future. If you ever have the chance to go see him live it's well worth it and he gives out great deals on his book and CD's at his events.

I listened to him today while mowing. I like him. How much did it cost to go see him?

I read his column every week. He does not really tell you anything you don't already know but he gives some great reinforcement to do the right thing financially.

It was 30 dollars per ticket. It is a interesting story on how he got to where he is today. If you have Foxbusiness channel he is on from 8-9 every night and he has his own radio show daily. Here is a link to his website http://www.daveramsey.com/ and it will give you some first hand information about his purpose. If you interested in reading one of his books, just click on the online store tab on the left side. He has a great deal on his book and CD's.

Wolfpac has gone through the Financial Peace University and he can fill you in on that process. I see what it has done for him and would recommend it to anyone.

Thelt, Dave even admits that he does nothing more than teach common sense but he has just packaged it well and put common sense into a process. If you listen to Dave Ramsey at a live event and you aren't fired up to make radical changes on how you handle money, there simply is no changing that person. He is a very good speaker. He will challenge and confront you while entertaining you at the same time.

As lclefty said, he has insane deals on his products at these events. If you watch his website around any holiday, he will normally sell some of his books for $10 which is a heck of a lot cheaper than any bookstore.

This was the first month that my wife and I haven't had a payment on some sort of consumer debt (credit card, HELOC, or car payment) in 6 years. Instead of making payments, we paid cash for a fun weekend in Charleston and listened to Dave. It really is a tremendous feeling to know I don't owe those payments anymore.

I'll add another thing about Dave Ramsey. I think that he is more of a teacher of behavior change than even finances. If you listen to him for a while, he knows his finances (I believe he has a Master's in it) but 80-90% of his show is dealing with people's behaviors. I was thinking about our trip this weekend and my wife and I had sat aside some spending money but even though we had plenty of money, my wife was still shopping for bargains. She found a purse at Belk's that was normally 29.99 and she got it for 9.77 by really looking around and not just going to the brand new rack. That's the type of behavior change that really causes people to win even more than income. If you make 250K and spend 250K, you are no better off than someone making 40K and spending 40K. You have more stuff for sure but you don't have any more wealth.

    To anyone needing help:

For $5 I can call you up and tell you not to buy another new car when you get the urge and can't afford one. Calling you a dumbass for even thinking it is $2 extra. PM me.

I figured saving $3 on paying to find out shit you already know would be entertaining enough. My bad there.
