The Phish recording was done for the band. We mic'd their equipment with our good stuff. We split the snake - one to their board for house mix, one to our remote location (sometimes truck, sometimes basment, sometimes another kickass room with a window) to mix a recording.

Any well made live recording runs off of a different feed than the house mix. Particularly in the very small venues Phish played in '90. '91. This was pre-Elektra, the largest hall was no bigger than the visulite.

The effects rack that we used was because since we split the signal, there were no effects coming into our mix. We used our own for recording purposes. Vocals mainly, although we had to put effects on everything because otherwise it would sound just like a monitor tape.

They actually sold one of the shows - halloween '90 - as an mp3 download 5 or 6 years ago.

If you bring a DAT player over, I'll dub everything I have lickety split. It'd be a pleasure.
