Why didn't one of his own players tackle him?

  4. why did he even run into his own endzone? was he just running around trying to kill time or something and finally ended up there? why not just take a knee at the 1?

    moron.

taking the safety would run out the clock and at worst have them kicking away if time hadn't run out. I've seen it done successfully to change bad field position into very positive results, better than a punt but at the cost of two points.

Just that usually you want to run the clock out and then down the ball.

It's gotta be pretty damn cool to win a game by just picking the ball up. Leon Lett must've fathered that QB.

  6. Sure... if you've got bad field position...

"Only an official's whistle could, and none had blown after Holleman raced 50 yards into his own end zone for what was supposed to be a safety that would seal Lynden Christian's upset. "

    WTF?

yeah fifty yards is pretty damn outrageous.

I have no problem with the 50 yards. I've seen teams run out the clock like that before. Plus, I've seen enough "Hail Marys" and other crazy stuff to not want to fuck around with giving the other team ANY chance.

Didn't anyone tell this fool to run THROUGH the endzone?

He could've run around enough to kill the clock or run through the end zone. To drop the ball in the end zone w/o taking the knee was also poor coaching too.

Even if the clock was run out the play is not dead until the ball is down. That is the problem, he didnt' down the ball. He could have stood in the endzone for 5 minutes and the ball would have still been alive.
