    Ak,

I'll be gracious and let you have the final word in this thread, unless someone else wants to take a shot at it.
Based upon several other posts I have read, you seem to always wear people down til yours is the last post..You're like a pit bull dog and won't let go..you really enjoy writing and expressing ...articulating I should say..and seem to have the time and energy to do it. ...same for Hasbeen.. so you two just type away. You and I will never agree on anything.

I'll take a shot at it.

AK & HB are two of the kindest people on this board. They define 'gracious'. It's a shame you can't see that.

It only succeeds in undermining those principles if you don't keep up with your kids' business - like a good parent should.

I have two children, am a former public school teacher, and just pushed both of my boys out the door to school today knowing that they have a solid foundation on which to conduct themselves. And since we check their homework each night and keep up with their progress, we'll know exactly what they're being taught, and whether we need to clarify anything they might perceive as conflicting to our Christian values.

you do know that the way you address people is highly argumentative and demeaning?

wonder where you get it from?

I got :twocents: and here it is. Schools should provide religious outlets for students. They had a group that use to meet once a week and go on monthly outings when I was in school. I forget the name of it. Schools should also teach both sides creation and evolution. Schools should allow students a moment of silence and should recognize God when pledging allegence to the flag. Other than that I don't see the necessity of religion in schools. They should allow the same opportunities for christianity as they do the humanism they teach. There should be two sides of the story and students should be allowed to choose.

The responsibility of arming kid's with the knowledge to choose is the parents'. I can tell you from experience that the more religion you pile on a kid, the more they will reject it. When kids are given the facts on both sides, then allowed to make a decision, if the parents are doing their job, then the kids 7 out of 10 times make the right decision. The 3 times they make the wrong decisions are lessons learned and with out those lessons, kids never mature.

I'm sorry you feel that way. I haven't been aware of getting in the last word particularly often--I don't know.
You're right--I do enjoy a spirited debate with worthy opponents. It's not stimulating if others either agree with everything I say, or simply harp on their views without giving reasons for them. Believe me, I'm much better at debating in writing than in conversation--I have more time to think about what I say :)
I won't have so much time to devote to it here, as I start a new job today. [Insert universal sigh of relief here]
I'm disappointed that you think we could never agree on anything, although I think you're right about this subject. There are quite a few posters here that I disagree with on most things, but we occasionally agree on something.
I know I can be condescending at times, though I try not to be. I try to stick to the argument & not descend into personal attacks; but I do get a rather smart-assed tone about what I say at times.
I do think you're assessment of HB as a poster here is unfair, perhaps because you haven't followed his discussions enough. He & I don't always agree--obviously--but I find him to be one of the most intelligent, open-minded, & sincere people I've ever "met." I think it's fair to say that if anyone could persuade me to embrace Christianity, he would be the one. He sticks to the point of the discussion, debates based on fact & scripture, clearly labels his opinions as opinions, & apologizes anytime he offends someone unintentionally. I've never seen him do it intentionally.

And this will be a smart-ass comment, but a sincere one: I hope someone will post something after me here--& NOT something defending me :)
